Most people in Japan who are asked if they’ve ever tried Danish food before, will say “No”. It is a small country in the Northern part of Europe and the amount of places in Japan serving the food is next to non. This had to change a little we thought.
Last year we had our Danish colleague make an amazing Christmas lunch with presents and everything. It went very well and people loved it. This time we had him host a two-day food event. Serving a 3-course meal on the 25th of July for dinner and the following day for lunch.
The Danish summer course consisted of:
Starter: Shrimp cocktail w. homemade bread
Main course: Danish Breaded Patties (Karbonader) w. asparagus and potatoes
Dessert: Traditional Danish apple cake
This is a course that is enjoyed up in the North by the vikings themselves.
A couple of the participants from the Christmas lunch came this time as well and again loved it! This time we even had two Danish participants who helped making the atmosphere a little more Danish as well.
The event was made as a collaboration between INARI GLEAN cafe & bar and Alex’s new YouTube channel called “Dining with Alex”. The event was made into a short video explaining how to make the starter as well as showing the atmosphere at INARI GLEAN. If you are interested in having a look at what the atmosphere felt like, or want the recipes then check out the video below and subscribe to Alex’s YouTube channel for more Danish recipes.
We are hosting events every single month and hope to see you swing by the cafe for a good time, after the whole virus situation dies down a little.
